Overall Opinion:
I truly love nearly everything about Bondi Sands Aero Self Tanning Foam Ultra Dark. Before even getting to the results themselves, this self-tanner has a delicious coconut scent, and offers you a ton of product at an affordable price.
The results are undeniable, too. A natural-looking, ultra dark tan is achieved and lasts for 3-4 days, all while fading nicely.
This product isn’t perfect, of course. You have to leave it on for a considerable length of time in order to achieve results, and it has a dry time of nearly an hour before being able to dress and go about your day.
Overall, this is one of the better self-tanners I’ve tried, and recommend it to anyone looking for a dark tan!
Detailed Opinion:
Look and Feel
Bondi Sands Aero Self Tanning Foam Ultra Dark has an extremely dark color guard—it’s almost grey in color once applied.
Thankfully, the color guard starts to fade into a more normal color the longer you wear it, but it still stays pretty grey/green for 3-4 hours post-application.
As far as consistency goes, this is by far the thickest foam I’ve ever worked with, and that thickness is felt when you apply it to your body, as well.
Application
The application isn’t difficult, but it does require a bit more work than other foam self-tanners I’ve used.
Because this is the thickest foam I’ve ever applied, it requires a lot more precision and effort to rub it into every area on your body.
Thankfully the dark color guard acts as a guide to make sure you cover every area thoroughly, so I didn’t experience any streaks. It simply took longer to apply than most other foams because of the consistency of the foam itself.
Once it’s applied, you should wait 6 hours before rinsing the product off.
Drying Time
The dry time is one of the few negative aspects about this self-tanner.
The super sticky phase only lasts about 15-30 minutes post-application, which is still a long time. However, I wouldn’t attempt putting on clothes until at least 60 minutes post-application.
I probably wouldn’t leave the house for a while after applying this tanner in general because of the intense color guard, but it’s hard to not be able to sit down or get dressed for that length of time.
So the dry time is an inconvenience for this product.
Smell (Before Application)
Bondi Sands Aero Self Tanning Foam Ultra Dark has a very strong scent to it when you first apply it.
The odor itself is the combination of self-tanner and a sweet scent, so it’s not the best experience. However, the super strong aspect of the scent goes away about 15 minutes post-application as it begins to dry down.
Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)
I find that in most cases, the self-tanner scent grows the longer I keep a product on. However, the opposite was true with Bondi Sands Aero Self Tanning Foam Ultra Dark.
Once the product had absorbed into my skin, it had the most delicious coconut scent to it! I felt like I was on the beach with a piña colada.
I really loved the smell, so this was a major bonus for this self-tanner in my book.
Color Produced
I couldn’t believe how dark of a tan I achieved with Bondi Sands Aero Self Tanning Foam Ultra Dark! I know it says ‘ultra dark’ on the packaging, but you never know how accurate that will be.
The instructions say to leave it on for at least 6 hours before rinsing off, but I actually only waited 4.5 hours before showering and WOW. I was already insanely dark. I can’t even imagine how dark I would’ve been had I waited the full six hours or longer!
While I was super dark, it was still a very natural-looking tan. There wasn’t any orange undertone, so I looked like I had just been out in the sun…for a very long time haha.
Overall, I’m completely thrilled and impressed with the results!
How Long It Lasts
The tan I achieved lasted for a solid 3-4 days. I think it lasted longer than most tanners I’ve used because of how dark it was to begin with.
So even as the tan faded, which it did so nicely, I still looked more tan than normal because of how dark I was to begin with.
Even though this one has decent staying power, you’ll still need to apply twice a week.
OK For Men?
Yes! The coconut scent might be a bit feminine, but that odor goes away once you rinse off the self tanner, so it shouldn’t be a problem for men in the long run.
Price
Bondi Sands Aero Self Tanning Foam Ultra Dark is insanely affordable for the amount of product you get and is worth every penny.
Personally, I would be willing to pay more for this self-tanner based on the results I achieved and how long the tan lasted. This is a bargain, in my opinion!
