Overall Opinion:
Beautisol Summer Glow produces a very nice bronze color but is a little difficult and messy to apply.
The dark tint in this product gets on everything when you’re applying it. And the heavy consistency means you’ll have to work to blend it in.
But once you get by that, it smells great and produces a pretty good color that lasts.
Detailed Review:
Look and Feel
Beautisol Summer Glow comes out of the bottle as a very dark, very thick lotion.
Application
Applying this Beautisol product was a real pain– and is the main reason why it’s not ranked higher on our list.
The tint or guide color is so dark, that it gets on everything as you apply it.
The actual lotion is also very thick, which makes it somewhat difficult to blend it. You’re going to use your arm muscles a bit to get this one blended in!
Drying Time
Beautisol Summer Glow dries a little quicker than other, thick and creamy self tanning lotion but takes much longer to dry than mists, sprays and mousses. That might bot be a huge deal to some, just make sure you have an hour or two before you hop into bed.
And speaking of bed, be prepared to lay down some towels to protect your sheets. If you don’t, they’re going to be dark when you wake up in the morning.
And you can forget about putting on clothes after application. You’re definitely going to need to shower first to get off the dark tint.
Smell (Before Application)
Beautisol Summer Glow has a very strong, almost laundry detergent-like smell to it.
We don’t mind it, but know that some people will definitely be overpowered by it!
Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)
Once the strong smell fades a little, we think this self tanner actually smells pretty good on the skin.
Color Produced
If you manage to fight through the difficult application and sheet-staining properties of this product, the color produced is actually really good.
We noticed a fairly dark, even bronze color with no signs of streaking or blotchiness.
How Long It Lasts
Beautisol Summer Glow lasts for 5-7 days, which is excellent among self tanning products. Also, as it faded, it remained pretty even and smooth. A definite plus in our book!
OK For Men?
The strong, perfume-like odor and messy application aren’t going to appeal to men. I would look elsewhere.
Price
Beautisol Summer Glow costs $39 per bottle. That seems extremely expensive at first glance, but realize it comes in an 8 ounce bottle (which is a larger size than most premium self tanners come in). Based on that, it costs around $4.87 an ounce, which isn’t too bad for a tanner of this quality.
