Overall Opinion:

Overall, I was very disappointed with Adonia Bronzing Glow Sunless Tanning Body Foam.

Adonia used to make a self tanning spray, which I absolutely loved.  It was one of the better products out there.  But this one is the exact opposite, and fell short in most areas.

The smell while the product develops is really bad, and smells strongly of DHA.  The smell sticks around and doesn’t leave until you shower the product off.

Second, the color it produced left a lot to be desired.  It was too light for my liking, and not to mention streaky!

And don’t even get me started on Adonia’s customer service/website.  They’re customer service is SO bad.  So bad that I couldn’t even get ahold of anyone after days of trying.  Their website is also very confusing as well.

Overall, I was under impressed with Adonia Bronzing Glow…hence the 1.5 star rating.

Detailed Review:

Look and Feel

Adonia Bronzing Glow is a light brown/greyish mousse.  I was surprised by the color of it when I first saw it.

It definitely has a grey tint, which I’m not used to.

The guide was pretty light going on to my skin, but it still helped me see where I was applying it.  The guide darkened a bit once you applied it.

The foam is bubbly, which gives it a nice texture, not too thick and not too thin.

Application

Adonia Bronzing Glow was relatively easy to blend in and apply to my body.

Because it does have a light brown color to it, I’d recommend using a tanning mitt when applying it just to be on the safe side.  This will also prevent the product from dripping through your fingers as well.

You do need to pay careful attention to where you’re applying it so you don’t miss any spots.

The interesting thing with this one, is the guide darkens when you apply it to your body.

Drying Time

This mousse dried in about 35 minutes, which is a bit longer than your average self tanner.

As it dried my skin felt pretty sticky too, and I can’t stand that feeling.

I wish it would’ve dried about 10 minutes faster and not felt so sticky!

You’ll need to be semi-careful while you wait for it to dry.  There’s not a super dark guide, but the guide can still stain anything it touches before it’s dry.

Smell (Before Application)

Right out of the bottle, Adonia Bronzing Glow smells pretty good.  It smells tropical and maybe a bit like cherry.

Unfortunately that good smell was mixed with DHA.  As soon as your apply the lotion, the DHA smell becomes rather strong, and it doesn’t smell nice at all.

Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)

As the product developed, the DHA smell became stronger and stronger.

It wasn’t a pleasant scent at all, and it became a sour scent mixed with DHA.  YUCK!

Color Produced

After I showered the product/guide off the next morning, I was left with a light to medium shade tan than was pretty streaky.

I’m not sure why the product was streaky, but it looked very uneven and unnatural.  I guess the guide wasn’t dark enough for me to see where I was applying the product, so I missed a few areas.

I also wish the color would’ve turned out darker.

The color wasn’t orange, which is good, but you’ll need to apply a second coat in order to get a darker tan.

How Long It Lasts

The tan we got from Adonia Bronzing Glow lasted about as long as your average self tanner lasts.

It started to fade after 3-4 days.  Due to the light color, it faded pretty quickly and evenly.

OK For Men?

No, I wouldn’t recommend this one for men.

The color isn’t that great, it smells bad, and I definitely think there are better self tanners out there.

Price

At $49 for an 8 oz bottle, Adonia Bronzing Glow isn’t exactly cheap.

It’s not the most expensive self tanner out there, but I wouldn’t pay $49 for a sub par product like this.
