Overall Opinion:

Overall, this is one of the worst self tanners I’ve tried.

Hence the 1.5 star rating.

It sucks, because I was really excited to try this product.  Xen Tan has some other tanners that I really like, but this one doesn’t even come close to comparing to those.

Application is a huge mess.  The guide is so dark, and the product dries so fast that you can’t even blend it in.  So you’re left looking like a black, streaky mess.

I was actually embarrassed with how I looked and I couldn’t wait to shower the guide off in the morning.

The smell was the only good thing about Xen Tan Moroccan Tan.  It smells very tropical and fruity.

The color it produced was awful.  I had streaks and dark patches all over my body.  The tan ended up being a light to medium shade, but it was very unnatural looking.

The price of this self tanner was higher than average, and it’s definitely not worth it.

The good thing is the product faded after 2 days, so I only looked like a splotchy mess for a few days.

Detailed Opinion:

Look and Feel

Xen Tan Moroccan Tan is a “liquid-lotion”. So basically its a very liquidy lotion.

It’s very thin, almost too thin.

It has a very dark guide, it’s almost black.

The color and consistency made it very hard to apply.

Application

Application is  a nightmare to put it nicely.

First off, the product is wayyy too thin, so it drips all over the place and it stained my bathroom and towels.

Second, the product dries too fast, so you literally only have a few seconds to rub it in before it dries. I am a very experienced self tanner, and even I couldn’t apply it before it dried. So it left my whole body looking like a streaky, black mess.

The dark guide stained my skin before I even had time to blend it. I’ve never seen this happen with a self tanner, but this was really bad.

You’ll definitely have to use a tanning mitt while applying this one, because it stains your hands too.

Drying Time

I never thought I’d say this, but Xen Tan Moroccan Tan dried way too fast!

I’ve never used a self tanner that dried before I could even rub it into my skin.

Usually you have a few minutes to blend the product in before it starts drying. But with this one you only had a few seconds.

I wish it didn’t dry SO fast.

Smell (Before Application)

This is the one thing I liked about this product.

It smells really good and tropical, it reminds me of the beach.

Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)

The smell was gone when I woke up.

I didn’t smell any DHA either, which was good.

Color Produced

The color I got from Xen Tan Moroccan Tan was a streaky mess.

I woke up with a handprint on my leg (even though the product was completely dry before I went to bed).  That’s never happened to me before and I’ve been tanning a longgg time.

The color was a light to medium shade tan after the guide washed off, and I had streaks all over my body.

I had areas that were a lot darker than the others too.

I couldn’t believe how bad my tan looked.

It wasn’t natural, smooth or a nice color.

How Long It Lasts

My tan faded after about 2 days, which I was happy about with this one.

Normally I like my tan to last longer than 2 days, but I couldn’t wait for this one to go away.

It was hard to say if it got splotchy as it faded because it was so splotchy to begin with.

OK For Men?

No.

This tan will be a man’s worst nightmare. It’s streaky, messy and hard to apply.

Price

Xen Tan Moroccan Tan was pricier than average at $7.00 an ounce.

The bottle is 5 oz and sells for $35.00, which is way too expensive for this product.
