Overall Opinion:

I gave Tan Bloom Sunless Tanning Lotion 2.25 out of 5 stars.  So I found it to be a little below average.

The color was nice, but it’s a pretty light self tanner.  After one application, I got a light to medium shade tan.  If I were going to use it again, I’d apply it two days in a row. I read a few reviews online that said it turned them orange, but I didn’t find that to be the case.  I actually wish my tan was darker.

Now, this one smells really bad.  I can’t exactly put my finger on the smell, but to me it smelled like DHA and cardboard.  A very odd combo, haha. And it smelled even worse after the tan developed.

The price point is very average, although I think you’ll go through a bottle very quickly.  I used up a ton of product with just one application!

So overall, the color is okay, but there were other things I didn’t like about this one.

Detailed Opinion:

Look and Feel

This self tanner is a lotion that’s light brown and shimmery/glittery.  The lotion is on the thicker side, but it has a nice texture.  It kind of feels like an average body moisturizer, but with a brown, shimmery tint to it.

Application

The weird thing about this self tanner is that is comes out of the bottle a light brown color, but once you start to blend it in, it turns white on your skin.  So it winds up being like sunscreen when you apply it.

It took a while to fully blend into my skin, which was a nuisance.  I’d say I was standing there blending it in for at least 5-10 minutes, which really annoyed me.

Tan Bloom looks like it has a color guide, so you can see where you’re applying it, but it really doesn’t.

Once I applied it to my skin, I couldn’t see the guide, but it still ended up getting on my sheets.

Also, it left a glittery look to my body after I applied it.

I also felt like I used up a lot of the bottle with each application. The bottle is 4 ounces, so it won’t last very long.

Drying Time

After I applied it to my whole body, it took about 30-40 minutes to dry.  While it dried, my body felt pretty sticky, which I didn’t like.

It took longer than I’d like to dry, and even after it dried, it ended up staining my bed sheets.

Smell (Before Application)

Yuck, this one smells so bad!

I can’t even really describe it, it just has a very pungent smell.

You can tell they tried to make it smell like coconut, but failed.  It ended up smelling like sour cardboard or something.

I wasn’t a fan, and had a hard time sleeping with that smell over my body.

Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)

After my tan developed, the smell was still horrible.

It smelled even worse the next morning.  It was like DHA mixed with a cardboard smell.

Color Produced

The next day, after I showered the product off, I had a light to medium shade tan.

My tan was pretty even, although I had a few small streaks.  In my opinion, the color it produces is very natural looking.  It looked like I spent a few hours in the sun getting a little glow.

Now, it wasn’t as dark as I’d hoped.  But for those of you with very light complexions, I think it’ll give you a light to medium tan that looks natural. I liked that it didn’t give me an orange hue; if anything, it’s more of a yellow based tanner.

If I were to use this product again, I’d apply it two days in a row in order to deepen my tan a little.

How Long It Lasts

My tan lasted 2-3 days.  It faded naturally and I didn’t have any weird patchy areas, which was nice.

OK For Men?

No.  I think the smell and the application will deter you from this one.
