Overall Opinion:

I really wasn’t a fan of Pretend Tan Bronzing Mousse.

I ended up giving it 1.5 out of 5 stars, so there were some things I really didn’t like.

First off it’s supposed to be a mousse, but the texture is really a liquid.  It’s as runny as water, and that makes it SO hard to apply.

My bathroom looked like a train wreck after I was done.  The product was all over my floor, towels, countertops, etc.

The dark guide actually stained a few things which I wasn’t too happy about :/

The dry time was shorter than average, I’m pretty sure this was due to the thin consistency.

The color turned out to be a medium shade, but it was pretty uneven and a little orange looking.

Let’s just say the color wasn’t worth the hassle of applying it.

The price was slightly higher than average, which I would gladly pay for a great product.  But this wasn’t a great product, so I wouldn’t pay that again.

The smell was pretty bad too, it smelled very strongly of DHA.  The smell didn’t go away until after I showered it off either.

So, needless to say, I didn’t like this “mousse”.

Detailed Opinion:

Look and Feel

Pretend Tan Bronzing Mousse is a mouse with a very dark guide.

However, this isn’t really a mouse, it came out like water.  It was so thin, I don’t know how they call it a mousse!

The guide is very dark, almost black looking, it’s very messy.

Application

This is probably the messiest self tanner I have ever applied.

It left my bathroom, towels, sink, floor and everything it touched looking like a black mess.

The product is so watery, it runs right through your hands, making it very difficult to apply.

I thought I didn’t shake the product well, so I tried doing that and it made it worse.

This is not like a mouse at all, they should call it a liquid.

The product ran all down my legs and body before I even got the chance to rub it in.

You absolutely have to use gloves while applying this one, the dark guide stains.  Basically, this one is an absolute nightmare to apply.

Drying Time

It dried in about 15 minutes.  I think it dried rather quickly due to the watery consistency.

Make sure you don’t touch anything at all while you’re waiting for it to dry, it’ll get so messy!

Smell (Before Application)

Pretend Tan Bronzing Mousse smells really bad.  It smells like pure DHA.

I don’t think they put any scent or fragrance in it at all, the smell was so bad.

Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)

I could still smell a little DHA when I woke up the next morning. Yuck!

You have no idea how excited I was to shower this one off!

Color Produced

I woke up and my tan looked so uneven due to the watery consistency which made it very hard to apply.

Most of the unevenness was from the guide that ended up washing off in the shower.

I ended up with a medium shade tan that looked decent, but maybe a little orangey.

There were also some splotchy spots that I missed or that ended up darker than other areas because it was so difficult to apply.

The color I got just wasn’t worth the hassle of applying it.

How Long It Lasts

I noticed my skin started looking really scaly and patchy after 3 days.

So I’d say this one lasted about 3 days before my tan faded.

It became very uneven looking as it faded which I was disappointed about.

OK For Men?

No, men run far away from this one!  Application alone is enough reason to stay away.

Applying this one is a nightmare.  I had to spend about 30 minutes cleaning down my bathroom after I was through applying it.

The color is just sub par and it smells gross too.

Price

Pretend Tan Bronzing Mousse comes from Canada.  So including shipping it cost $28.64, that works out to $6.82 per ounce.

That price is a little higher than average and the product definitely isn’t worth the cost in my opinion.
