Overall Opinion:

Overall, I was impressed with Mine Tan Olive. For those of you who don’t know, this product was formally known as their “Original” mousse, they just recently changed the name.

Application was pretty easy, the color produced is great, and it’s very convenient to use if you’re in a time crunch.

After leaving the product on for an hour and twenty minutes, I had a deep medium to dark shade tan.  My tan was very brown and not orange, I loved the color.

The few downsides of this product are that the smell isn’t the best, and once you factor in shipping to USA it can be a bit pricey.

I like that the brand is cruelty free, vegan and paraben free too.

I think this is a great express mousse, so I gave it 4.25 out of 5 stars.

Detailed Opinion:

Look and Feel

Mine Tan Olive is a dark brown mousse.

The guide is very dark, and the mousse is a nice fluffy texture.

Application

You must use gloves or a tanning mitt while applying this one.

If you do, application is pretty simple.

The mousse blends in easy and application is very quick.

It isn’t hard to blend in, like a lot of mousses are that have dark guides.

The guide helps you see where you’re applying the product.  Just make sure you really protect your hands as this one will stain your palms.

Drying Time

Like many mousses out there, Mine Tan Olive was a bit sticky after applying it.

It wasn’t as bad as some I’ve seen, and it dried after about 25 minutes, which isn’t so bad.

Smell (Before Application)

This one doesn’t smell too great, but it’s also not the worst out there.

I could smell a little DHA mixed with a light oily smell.  Luckily the smell is very faint once you apply it and it fades rather quickly.

Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)

The good news is you can wash this one off after a few hours and don’t need to wear it overnight.

The smell faded after about an hour and wasn’t too strong, I could only smell a little DHA.

Color Produced

I was very impressed with the color this mousse produced.

You’re directed to leave it on 1 hour for a “natural tan”, and 2-3 hours for a deeper tan.  I only left it on for an hour and twenty minutes due to a time constraint, and I had a gorgeous medium to dark shade tan.

I was expecting my tan to be very light due to the fact I only left it on a little over an hour, but I was wrong.  My tan was pretty deep and still very natural looking.  I look sun kissed, and got comments on my tan.  No one could tell it was from a bottle!

Another nice thing about this product is that the color continues to develop even after you shower it off.

After I stepped out of the shower I was expecting to look pasty white again until the tan had more time to develop.  But I was pleasantly surprised when I got out that I already had a tan!  The tan darkened a little over night, but for the most part the medium to dark shade tan was already there after I showered.  I was really happy about that.

A lot of the “Instant tans” out there, are not really as instant as they make them seem.  You usually need to shower the product off and then wait for the color to develop overnight.  That wasn’t the case with Mine Tan Original.

Mine Tan says their Olive formula is a “green based tan” that gives a deep olive tan.  To be honest, all the stuff and violet and green based tans kind of just seems like a marketing gimmick to me.

How Long It Lasts

My tan lasted a good 5-6 days before it started to show signs of wear.

It got a little scaley as I faded, but I’m used to that with darker self tanners.  And there weren’t any huge patches, which was good.

OK For Men?

Yes, I think men will like this one…especially if they’re in the market for an express tan.

Price

Mine Tan Olive is $30 per bottle, which is about average for a good self tanner.  But once you factor in shipping to the USA the price hikes to $40 which is quite expensive.
