Overall Opinion:

I gave this self tanner 3.25 out of 5 stars.

To start off, I knocked this down a bit before I even received it because they were out of the dark formula.  I kept checking back for a few weeks and it was never restocked.  So I never got my first choice when it came to this self tanner.

I ended up settling on buying the medium shade, and I did like it.  There were just a few little things I didn’t like.  First off, it stained my palm even though I used a tanning mitt.  It must have snuck through there somehow!

This one also dries super fast (which is both good and bad).  You have to work very quickly to rub the product in before it dries, or else your tan will be uneven.  On the plus side, you don’t need to wait for a sticky product to dry on your body.

The medium color was very nice and natural looking.  It wasn’t orange at all and I looked sunkissed.  I wish it was a bit darker, but that’s what the dark is for (if they ever restock it!).

Oh, and it smells delish while applying it (not so much the next morning though).

Overall, this is better than your average drugstore self tanner.

Look and Feel

This is a brown, foamy mousse.

As soon as it touches your skin the guide becomes very dark brown on your skin, giving you an instant bronze look.

The mousse is easy to work with and isn’t too watery.

Application

There are a few things you need to be careful of when applying this mousse.

First, you must use a tanning mitt or else your hands will be stained for days.  I got a little on one palm and I couldn’t get it off for the life of me!

Also, this product dried very quickly so you’ll need to hurry up and apply it.  It may be easiest to apply in small sections.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the drying time, but it does make application a hassle.  You must blend the product in before it dried or else your tan won’t be even.

I was very pleased with the drying time as it dried in under 5 minutes.

Once it touches your skin it literally dried within a few minutes.

Smell (Before Application)

It smells really good while applying it.

I can’t put my finger on the exact scent, but it’s fruity and light.

I love the smell!

Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)

Unfortunately, the next morning it didn’t smell so good.

I could smell a lot of DHA, it almost smelled like I got a spray tan.

There were hints of fruity smell, but overall it wasn’t pleasant.

Color Produced

I was really impressed by the color this one produced.

I ended up having to order the medium shade as they were out of the dark (which annoyed me!).

But I actually really like the color the medium produces.  It brown, not orange, and I’d say it’s a true medium tan.

I would’ve liked it to be a shade or two darker, but I guess that’s what the dark one is for.

If the dark is like the medium, just darker, I’m sure it’s a nice color as well.

For those of you looking for a natural looking medium tan I think you’ll like the color this one gives.

How Long It Lasts

LA Luxury Sunless Mousse Black Bronzing Medium lasted about 5 days before it faded.

As it faded I had some patches on my body, and my skin seemed to dry out a bit as well.
