Overall Opinion:
One thing you guys may not know about me is that I love reality TV almost as much as I love self tanning. I was so happy when I found out Norvell came out with Dancing With the Stars Perfection Self Tanning Mousse. (Is DWTS considered reality?) Regardless, I love that show.
After trying this self tanning mousse, I gave it 3 out of 5 stars. So overall, I had a pretty positive experience with it.
I like the color it produces, it’s a medium to dark shade tan that looks so even. I literally had no streaks which was awesome.
One draw back was it didn’t last as long as I’d hoped, or as long as they claimed. My tan lasted 4 days before fading and it became a bit splotchy as it faded.
It also smells exactly like a spray tan. I kind of like the smell of spray tans (I’m weird, I know). But, I realize most of you out there don’t particularly enjoy the scent. And by the next morning, I was full on reeking of DHA. It wasn’t pleasant.
So overall, Dancing With the Stars Perfect Self Tanning Mousse is better than your average self tanner.
Detailed Opinion:
Look and Feel
This self tanner is a fluffy mouse that’s brown in color.
It comes out of the bottle looking a little greyish (which is weird), but as you apply it to your skin it becomes brown and acts as a dark color guard.
Application
As long as you use a tanning mitt, application was pretty easy.
The color guard shows you where you’re applying the product, so just make sure you’re paying attention.
The guide looked a tad bit streaky until I really blended it in, and than it was ok.
If you don’t use a tanning mitt, the mousse will melt and can cause a big mess.
Drying Time
This foam took about 25 minutes to completely dry, which is average.
It wasn’t super sticky or wet feeling while I waited for it to dry.
Smell (Before Application)
This one smells exactly like a spray tan!
I think it’s because Norvell makes it and they are a big player in the spray tan solutions.
It smells kind of like cherry mixed with a little DHA. I don’t mind the smell, and kind of enjoy it.
But I know some people can’t stand the smell of spray tans.
Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)
The DHA smell was pretty strong by the next morning. I could really smell the self tanner smell.
The cherry smell was still there a little, but the DHA overpowered it.
Color Produced
After showering off the guide, I had a bronze, medium to dark shade tan.
I really liked how my tan looked as it was streak free and even.
Now, it wasn’t as dark as the tans you see on Dancing With the Stars, and that’s what I kind of expected.
But it was a good medium to dark shade color that I’d definitely wear again.
How Long It Lasts
On the bottle it says it lasts 5-7 days. I found my tan to last about 4.
I wish It lasted a day or so longer than it did.
I also got some patchy areas as it faded, but that’s to be expected with dark self tanners.
OK For Men?
Yes, if men are looking for a mousse, I think this one is pretty good.
Price
The bottle sells for $22.50, which isn’t bad at all. It’s not as cheap as some drug store tanners, but you’re getting a higher quality self tanner.
