Overall Opinion:
Overall, I gave Bahama Tan Sunless Tanner 2.75 out of 5 stars, so it was slightly better than your average self tanner.
I like that is uses all natural and organic products, that’s a huge plus in my book.
But the application was such a pain; it took forever to blend the product into my skin.
I also think the smell could use some work. It was ok, but definitely not great. It smelled like Play-Doh mixed with a light tropical scent.
The thing I liked most about Bahama Tan Sunless Tanner were the results. My tan was a smooth, medium shade and it looked very natural.
So, in my opinion, this self tanner was a bit better than average. It has some downsides and some upsides.
Detailed Opinion:
Look and Feel
Bahama Tan is a thick, gel like lotion that comes out a light brown color. It actually has a bit of pink color too it as well, I’m not sure where that comes from.
I wouldn’t say the color acts as a guide though, because it blends in as soon as you apply to your skin.
The lotion is also shimmery, so as soon as you apply it your skin has a slight sheen to it.
The texture was nice and thick which made it easy to apply.
Application
I thought application would be easy for this lotion, but I was wrong. As soon as I started rubbing it on, it turned white and wouldn’t blend into my skin at all!
I literally had to rub and rub for 5-10 minutes to get the product to blend into my skin.
The shimmer also made it a bit messy, and I’d definitely recommend wearing a tanning mitt while using this one.
The guide isn’t very dark, but the shimmer will get everywhere if you don’t use a tanning mitt to contain the product.
The light brown color didn’t act as a guide, but once the lotion hits your skin it turns white, and that kind of worked as a guide as weird as it sounds.
Drying Time
Once I finally got the lotion to blend into my skin, it took about 30 minutes to dry completely.
While I waited for it to dry, my skin felt wet, but not sticky.
You don’t need to worry about a dark guide staining anything, but the shimmer has the potential to get everywhere.
Smell (Before Application)
Bahama Tan doesn’t smell too bad.
I could smell Play-Doh/cardboard mixed with a light tropical smell.
I think the cocoa in it makes it smell a bit like Play-Doh.
I couldn’t smell any DHA in it though, which was good.
The smell wasn’t the best, but it wasn’t unpleasant.
Smell (After Several Hours And The Next Day)
The smell didn’t get worse, it slowly faded away as the color developed.
After several hours, the good, tropical smell was completely gone. But the cardboard smell remained for a while longer.
Color Produced
This is the one thing I really liked about this product.
The color it produced was so nice.
I got a medium shade tan and it was so smooth and even.
I tried this self tanner in the medium shade (#2), and I loved the results.
For those looking for a dark tan, I’d go with the dark shade as this one may not be dark enough.
But for a natural looking glow, this one gave a very nice tan.
How Long It Lasts
This self tanner lasted about 3-4 days before it was gone.
This is definitely one you’ll need to apply 2-3 times a week in order to maintain your tan.
My tan faded pretty evenly, with no major splotchy areas.
OK For Men?
I don’t think men will like this one, as it seems like this product is geared towards women.
It has a shimmer in it, which washed off in the shower, but I’m still not sure men will like it.
Price
Bahama Tan Sunless Tanner is $35.00 for the bottle, which seems pricey. But if you break it down, it comes out to $4.38 per ounce which is only slightly higher than average.
